Auction Primer
A wonderful evening awaits us at the 20th Century Theatre in Oakley. Our auction raises important funds needed for the school and gives us the opportunity to get to know each other and reconnect with old friends. There are many interesting and useful items to bid on at a wide range of prices—a quilt made by the kids, a zoo membership, massage coupons, kids’ art, posters, movie tickets, and more. Invite your friends and neighbors and make plans to join us for an evening of fun. The full catalog will be available soon.
Reservations
If you’re already part of the TNSM community, look for your invitation in the mail in early February. But by no means is this an invitation-only event—we encourage you to invite your family and friends to join us! The auction is a good time for anyone who likes to party, shop, and support a good cause. It’s also a great way for alumni parents to visit with old friends and for prospective parents to check us out.
Here are 3 ways to make your Reservations:
If you order your tickets prior to receiving your invitation, your invitation will come with a receipt for your pre-purchase and you will not need to RSVP.
Auction Sponsorship
We hope to cover most of our costs before the event to maximize the benefit to our kids. To learn about sponsorship options, contact Ann Baumgardner.
Arriving at the Auction
To give yourself enough time to socialize and browse the silent auction items, arrive at The 20th Century between 6:00 and 6:30. Don’t worry about parking—leave your car with the valet and join the party! Enter the lobby to check in and pick up your program and bidder number.
Silent Auction
The Silent Auction starts at 6pm, and closes by 8pm. Each section has a different closing time, so check the signs! To make a bid, write your bidder number on the bid sheet next to your bid. Please note the minimum bid and raise amounts—not following these guidelines will invalidate your bid. Bid sheets are removed from the table immediately at table closing.
Many “non-competitive” items (sign-up parties and other fixed-price items) are open for bidding all night or until they reach capacity—just add your bid number to the sheet, and you win!
Raffles
A romantic overnight getaway, wine baskets and more will be raffled at the auction. Tickets are available in multiple locations, and you can buy them with your bidder number. Winners are drawn before and during the live auction. You must be present to win.
Dinner
We’ll have “Dinner by the Bite.” Food and drink will be available throughout the evening.
The Live Auction
Welcome to the main event! Auctioneer Jonas Karp of Main Auction Galleries leads the bidding. It’s fast, frenzied and fun. Whether you’re in the bidding war or not, it’s an exciting, adrenaline-raising show!
Forming a group is a great way to afford some parties, vacations and other items that may be too expensive for just one family. We can only charge one bidder’s account, so designate one specific bidder and have the other group members pay that bidder.
There will be some fixed-price items available during the live auction including champagne to enjoy at your table and more.
Checking Out
Check out anytime after 9:00. If you have won something in the live auction, please wait at least 10 minutes to be sure the item has been properly recorded. There are several checkout stations open at the end of the Live Auction, so there’s no need to worry about long lines! You may pay with cash, personal check, MasterCard or Visa. Be sure to take your winnings home with you the night of the auction. Any items left behind at The 20th Century will be taken to school on Monday, but the auction committee assumes no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage.
Parking
The valet parkers have been pre-paid at the “tips-expected” rate. Standard tipping is $2 to $3/car. When there are just a few cars left, the valet will move the last cars to the lot next to the 20th Century. They will then leave the keys with the bartender.
