The New School Montessori Parent Board of Trustees
The TNSM Board is a decision making body that
works closely with the Director and the
rest of the staff. Membership entails active participation at
monthly Board meetings, leadership in fundraising, a presence at
school functions, and direct involvement in Board Committees and
Work Groups. There is no denying that being a Board member requires
a certain investment of time. However, you will be doing important
work and making a tangible impact on TNSM. Those who have served
find that being a member of this group of concerned, resourceful
and active volunteers is an honor and a joy.
The fundamental duty of any Board is to oversee
the finances of the group or institution that it represents.
Members of the Board take leadership roles in fundraising
activities for the school. TNSM Board Members are expected to attend
regularly scheduled meetings on the third Tuesday of each month,
and to take part in committee work outside of the monthly meetings.
Any current parent may serve as a Trustee on
the Board. While it is valuable to have members with certain
expertise (e.g. legal, marketing, or financial), the most
important qualification for being a Board member is a commitment to
the mission and core values of The New School Montessori. Anyone who
loves and cares about TNSM can make an important contribution.
