Our teachers and administrators are encouraged and supported financially in taking advantage of professional development opportunities. They routinely attend and give presentations at local and national Montessori conferences and meetings as well as teach in in adult education programs. As a partner with Xavier University, The New School Montessori provides internship experiences for teachers seeking Montessori certification. Each year we open our classrooms to teacher-obserservers from all over the world.

Teachers and administrators are also actively involved in supporting independent school organizations by serving on boards, supporting accrediting team initiatives and offering consultation services.

Eric Dustman brought a background in Montessori education, personnel, industrial relations and public school administration to The New School Montessori community when he took over as Director in July of 2001. He holds a Masters from Xavier University in Education and School Administration with a Montessori focus.

The re-accreditation process with ISACS and AMS encourages continuous improvement and creates strong relationships with ISACS and AMS. Among other things, we can celebrate and share our peaceful spirit and a humble sense of gratitude to our TNSM pioneers, our children and ourselves because we have maintained an attitude that has been steadfast in fulfilling our mission - to be free, powerful and heart-expanding.”

Over the past years Eric has worked to develop a comfortable balance of community traditions and fresh ideas at The New School Montessori. He is excited to continue such work and looks forward to doing so through his efforts to improve and support the abilities shared by staff, the spirit the community exudes and the knowledge he gains annually through work in other schools and on various independent school and community Boards.
