Extended Day
As a school that has one of the oldest full day care programs in Cincinnati, The New School Montessori extends the Montessori philosophy into its extended day programs.  Currently, two extended day programs, one for preprimary students and one for elementary students are in operation.  Late day activities, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., create an environment where children have a choice of working with Montessori materials, art activities and games.  The large wooded playgrounds provide opportunities for large-muscle activities, as well as socializing.  It is a time for children to be in a safe and guided environment while playing with their peers or, at older ages, doing homework. The New School Montessori faculty typically staffs these programs.

Vacation Care
Vacation care programs are provided for children, ages three to seven during the winter holiday and spring vacation.  The structure and goals for these programs are much the same as during the summer.  Each program runs four to five days and is typically staffed by current faculty.  These programs collectively, enable us to provide year round care for our families of young children. At this point options are being explored to recruit Xavier University students who are studying Montessori education in the staffing of these special programs.

Food Service
The whole foods lunch program strengthens our ability to educate the whole child.  The educational and social goals of the program are to visually provide children with the experience of seeing what a nutritious meal looks like, making it appealing so that it encourages them to try food, providing an opportunity to eat in-community and to practice lessons in what Montessori called “lessons in grace and courtesy”.
