An Accredited School

We're in year two of the seven-year cycle for ISACS and AMS accreditation. In year one, we did a survey of all parents, staff, and alumni. In year two, we'll be looking at every facet of our community and completing a study to identify our strengths, challenges, and our plans for continuous improvement. This will result in self-growth. In year three, we will be welcoming a team of colleagues from other independent schools to review our self-study and recommend reaccreditation.

The New School Montessori holds a charter from the Ohio State Board of Education.  Seeking accreditation is a choice of many independent schools like The New School Montessori.  Accreditation by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) and the American Montessori Society (AMS) is very important.

Being an accredited school serves to provide us with the distinction of being the only Montessori school in Ohio accredited by both ISACS and AMS.  Such recognition further supports mission and our excellent Montessori curriculum being taught by our highly credentialed, professional faculty.

ISACS works as an advocate for independent schools.  Among its goals is to keep independent schools as independent as possible from state mandates, such as required proficiency tests.  It recognizes the value, as The New School Montessori does, of allowing schools to devise the curricula their staff and families believe will best suit the emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs of their respective student bodies.  Accreditation by ISACS and AMS is a rigorous process, but well worth our efforts.

Why Accreditation?

Accreditation will allow us greater:

1. Autonomy.

a. While maintaining Ohio State accreditation, ISACS works as an
advocate for independent schools keeping them as independent as possible.

b. ISACS recognizes the value of allowing schools to devise curriculum that is believed to best suit the emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs of their respective student bodies.

2. Recognition.

a. Such a designation by AMS will serve to recognize the excellent Montessori curriculum already being taught at The New School Montessori.

b. Seen among schools like Cincinnati Country Day and Seven Hills, with whom we share relationships, as one maintaining standards of excellence above and beyond those mandated by the state.

3. Accountability.

a. ISACS is recognized as a premier Independent School Association for accreditation.

b. We will maintain our own set of standards for accountability that support our successful delivery of the mission.
